Lumen Tetrachotomy: a group exhibition
Opening Reception: Saturday January 5, 2012, 6-11pm
the Big Top NOLA is excited to present “Lumen Tetrachotomy,” a group exhibition featuring the works of four local female artists. This show will feature dimensional works intending to change the shape of the space they collectively inhabit with sculptural, textural, photographic and luminescent elements. The aesthetic grouping of mediums work together to produce, capture, reflect and otherwise manipulate light through structure and raw material.“Lumen Tetrachotomy” takes the four artists’ disciplines, preferred mediums and complimentary tactile fixations and plays them off of each other physically, utilizing all four surfaces of the exhibiting space; above, below, forward and backward. This theme of opposition works only to highlight the many commonalities of the artists and their work.

The opening reception for “Lumen Tetrachotomy” will be held at the Big Top NOLA on Saturday, January 5th from 6-11pm. The reception will also serve as a grand birthday celebration for all four Capricorn artists! Enjoy live music after 9pm with a suggested donation of $5 to go entirely to musical artists. Complimentary food will accompany a full bar. All proceeds benefit 3 Ring Circus Arts Education Center, a 501c(3) nonprofit. Exhibiting artists will be in attendance.
The exhibition will be on display through the Mardi Gras season, closing on February 23, 2013 and is free and open to the public.
