In 1997 Fredrick Guess made New Orleans his permanent home. He moved into the French Quarter and with a friend opened an antique store. In this store, he hung some of his work. Not much more than a year later, he closed the antique store completely and he and his partner relocated across the street and opened Galerie Louisiane, naming it in honor of his new home.
An instant success, the gallery was renamed the Fredrick Guess Studio. Since then, his popularity has grown with both locals and visitors. Many have begun collecting his work and it now hangs in collections around the world including countries like France, England, Germany, Japan, Australia and Canada.
The building in which The Fredrick Guess Studio is located has a rich history, as rich as any other in the French Quarter. It was the home of the first American Princess of Monaco, and that was not Grace Kelley.
