Sitting down causes your spine to shift from its natural S-shape to a C-shape that prevents weight from being distributed evenly throughout the body, placing extra stress on your spine and pelvis. This can have a big effect when you sit all day long. The good news? Standing instead of sitting activates molecules in your bloodstream that burn fat and turn bad cholesterol into good cholesterol. The bad news? Experts say that exercising alone does not fix the effects of sitting for long hours.
