Sock Monkey Project 2010
Arts & Entertainment, Education, Louisiana/GulfCoast
November 29th, 2010
This is YOUR chance to lovingly hand-build a sock monkey stuffed animal that will be given to a disadvantaged kid in New Orleans for Christmas.
Plan on spending 3-4 hours sewing your sock monkey. Monkey building supplies, needles, thread, hot glue guns, and buttons will be provided, but feel free to bring extra decorations and funky scrap materials you want to use to customize your creation. Help us achieve our goal of building 100 homemade sock monkeys that will be given to kids by “Monkey Claus” himself!
We are hosting a sock monkey building weekend workshop FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC at:
Razzamataz Production Studios
4820 Banks Street (Mid-City) in New Orleans (it’s a big red warehouse with a long driveway)
Saturday, December 18th and Sunday, December 19th: 10am – 6pm both days.
If you want to help, but aren’t feeling up to building a sock monkey, tax-deductible donations of art supplies, craft materials, and financial contributions to support the Sock Monkey Project will also be accepted. BTW, we really need buttons, needles, sewing scissors, and thread this year.
This project is made possible through the generosity of Fox River Mills and Fairfield Poly-fil.
