I believe there’s a river under all that snow, Kalixälven to be precise. You can see tire tracks in the snow because the river freezes solid and you can drive on top of it. My host-brother Rikard took me for a spin.
According to a tourism website, “Kalix River is one of Europe’s last untouched rivers.”
Not sure exactly when this photo was taken, perhaps late 1985 or early 1986.
