New Media Campaign Addresses Pedestrian and Motorist Safety in NOLA

March 21st, 2011

The Greater New Orleans Pedestrian & Bicycle Program, in partnership with the Louisiana Public Health Institute, has launched its latest campaign to help educate pedestrians and motorists about safety while sharing the streets. Campaign messages remind pedestrians to always cross the street at marked crosswalks and intersections and to avoid distractions like texting and music while crossing the street. Motorists are also being reminded to respect crosswalks by yielding to and stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks. Keep an eye out for the new billboards and listen for the radio public service announcements. Click here for safety tips while walking or driving or visit the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission site to get information on upcoming Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety workshops.
