Oil spill claims processor hosts Jindal fundraiser

The head of a Louisiana-based firm that is helping to handle Gulf oil spill claims for BP is holding a Tuesday fundraiser for Gov. Bobby Jindal.

An evening cocktail reception for $1,000 a plate — or $5,000 to be considered an event “host” — will be held at the office of Mike Worley. His company, Worley Catastrophe Response, was a subcontractor to BP PLC for processing claims and now works for the claims operation headed by Ken Feinberg on behalf of the oil giant.

A copy of the invitation to the fundraiser, scheduled for Tuesday in Hammond, was obtained by The Associated Press.

Jindal has repeatedly complained about the pace of claims processing and has criticized the process as unfair to claimants. A spokesman for the governor, Kyle Plotkin, said Jindal doesn’t see any conflicts or problems with Worley hosting the fundraiser.

“The governor wants the support of all people in Louisiana,” Plotkin said Monday.

Rep. John Bel Edwards, chairman of the state Legislature’s Democratic caucus, called the event a conflict of interest for Jindal, who has filed complaints in federal court about the claims process.

I've learned that 60% of Louisiana is willing to shoot themselves in the foot to be on the wrong side of any political discussion. We elect leaders like items on a buffet, we've heard what's good from rumor and what to avoid from innuendo. What I don't know is who's left out. Besides fishermen, oystermen, seafood processors, charter boat operators, restaurateurs, wildlife enthusiasts, support businesses, and the like, who is NOT on the take or willing to get paid while BP slithers away? Dammit Bobby, you're like watching a dubbed kung-fu movie where the sound doesn't match the action. You babble so fast and stumble on the keywords that I, for one, can't believe anything you say. So much of your slimy behavior reminds me of classic LA governors. Which one am I thinking of...?
