Vitter, Others Suggest Scaling Back Project
Flanked by dozens of people from the business, medical and political community, Mayor Mitch Landrieu publicly reaffirmed his support Thursday of a new state-of-the-art teaching and research hospital in Mid-City.
The plans for the LSU/Veternas Affairs hospital have come under scrutiny as of late as U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., and other state lawmakers have publicly urged the governor to scale back the plans for the hospital.
The concerns are that it’s not sustainable, the $1.2 billion price tag is too expensive and all the financing is not in place.
