…Happy 5th B’day to AZ! My illegitimate child is still kicking. I must admit there were times I wanted to abandon it but my embedded Catholic sense of guilt kept me coming back. I may not have shown it the attention it deserves over the years but I’m still parenting it.

And happy B’day to America! As always I will post my favorite Americana picture ever…. Elizabeth Shue wrapped in a tattered Old Glory on a desert landscape:


It’s got this “Grapes of Wrath”, Rosasharn thing going on…at least for me. Even in a seemingly barren, American landscape there is beauty and fertility. I’d like to hold on to that notion…especially in this country’s current condition.
