Saints quarterback Drew Brees has spoken out for the first time since the team placed him under the franchise tag… and since the NFL announced an investigation into alleged bounties Saints defensive players were paid to injure opponents.
Brees made it clear he does not want to start the coming season with the one-year franchise tag in place.
“You know I have played under the franchise tag before, back in 2005, and that ended with 13 anchors in my right shoulder and having a 25 percent chance of playing football again,” Brees told ESPN’s Mike and Mike. “That didn’t really work out too well for me.”
