The New Orleans Kids Partnership issues a challenge to all New Orleanians ages 21 and up to engage with their community by becoming a volunteer mentor or tutor for a child ages 7-21. NOKP has set a goal to recruit 200 new mentors and tutors in time for the summer.
The new campaign is about finding people interested in mentoring youth and connecting them with organizations based on their availability, skills and interests. Mentoring activities include academic tutoring, college preparation assistance, building job skills, leadership development and more. Mentors and tutors do not need prior experience—just a willingness to learn and a commitment to making a difference in the life of a child.
To find out more about what opportunities are available, interested individuals can click on BECOME A MENTOR and take a 5-minute Mentor/Tutor Profile survey. Upon completion of the survey, respondents will learn about potential matches and be contacted by those organizations to learn about next steps. There is no obligation and the survey is free.
The culmination of this campaign will occur at MENTORFEST, to be held on Saturday, May 19, 11 AM – 3 PM at Kingsley House, 1600 Constance Street. Mentorfest is free and open to the public with great food, drink, music, door prizes and celebrity guests.
