Uncle Lionel Batiste's Jazz Funeral, Burial Scheduled for Monday

A second line for the late, local legend Uncle Lionel Batiste went on despite Friday's flooding but – just as he would want it – there's still more parading in the streets to come as part of the Treme legend's jazz funeral. The jazz funeral down N. Claiborne Ave. and burial were rescheduled for Monday, July 23, because of the heavy rains. At 11 a.m. Monday, the jazz funeral march will begin at Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery (4000 Norman Mayer Ave.).
