The effort to reopen the large, vacant grocery store at the corner of N. Claiborne and St. Bernard Avenues got a million-dollar jolt today. Da Mayor said the city is giving Circle Food Store a $1 million grant as part of a program to encourage fresh food. The new money gives the one-time Treme-Seventh Ward neighborhood center enough cash to re-open, according to the City.
