Athenae helpfully points out to Rev. Arnold, a McCain backer, that “Hindu” is not a god.
I’d also like to point out to the pastor that he shouldn’t implore God to prove his “bigness”. That’s almost like he’s testing God, and we all know that when you test God, the Almighty will send the snakes out to eat you.
The only prayers that make sense to me are prayers of thanksgiving. I struggle in vain to reconcile the concepts of an omniscient Creator, human free will, and praying for divine intervention. [Don’t give me some flimsy “foreknowledge is not determinism” line, either. That doesn’t wash.] Reconciling the problem of evil with an omnibenificent God is another doozy.
Maybe we already live in hell and we achieve “salvation”, a glimpse of the heavenly infinite, when we love each other.
Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed [in] us.”
