UPDATE: James Perry Issues Statement on Website Attacking all Candidates for Mayor not Named Troy Henry
Calls Website “Typical New Orleans Political Dirty Trick”NEW ORLEANS — Nonprofit executive and candidate for Mayor James Perry today denounced the childish and slanderous attack on candidate Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu and the rest of the field in the 2010 Mayor’s race with the obvious exception of Troy Henry.
“We are less than two months from the primary so I think the people of New Orleans have come to expect these types of dirty tricks as some campaigns become increasingly desperate,” said Perry. “It’s just a typical New Orleans political dirty trick. This is exactly the type of dirty politics that the citizens of New Orleans are tired of and I think after what we’ve been through as a city over the last few years the voters have earned better than childish dirty tricks from desperate candidates.”
“We’ve begun the process to obtain a cease and desist order to the domain registry to turn over the registrars name and we’ve already submitted a complaint to YouTube to pull it down as well,” said Alex Morgan, Campaign Director for Perry for Mayor. “We’re also making public all of the information that we could find on this very expensive website in the hopes we can get some help in confirming exactly who created it and is funding it. Even though it appears that it is Troy Henry’s campaign since he isn’t mentioned it could very well be another big moneyed candidate who could afford to put this type of site together.”
