City Challenge / Problem

Lack of communication between officials/agencies and citizens. Lack of citizen trust.

My Solution / Idea

It seems simple, but our elected officials simply need to have more integrity. I will define it like the Rotary Club does with the 4-Way Test:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The reason we love New Orleans is because people are just more honest here— about their flaws, passion, fears, and love. We deserve elected officials who can be mature and show us the same respect.

Access to Data

My Solution / Idea

I was listening to NPR a few days ago and they had a piece that aired about the Obama Administrations new initiative to make information available to the public. The data could be used to search for statistics, trends and see real results. We need that here in New Orleans. The question is though, does the city have anyone who can enter the data and a database that can store it.

I am sure that Meffert never created anything of value to build on so as Mayor I would have to start at square one.
